The Peugeot 403 is a medium-sized family car produced in France and several other countries between 1955 and 1966 as the successor to the 402. It was sold as a 4-door saloon, 5-door estate, 3-door van and 2-door convertible and pick-up with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine.

The car was available with 1.3; 1.5 and 1.8 litre I4 engines, which ranged in power from 54 hp (40 kW) to 65 hp (48 kW). The engines were mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. In total, more than 1.2 million examples were produced, making it the first Peugeot to sell more than 1 million units.
