The Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II represents the most striking sporty version of the W201 model series. The flared fenders, front spoiler, and tall rear wing radically transform the appearance of this well-known sedan.

The Evolution II was developed as a homologation model in connection with the brand’s participation in the DTM. Its 2.5-liter, 16-valve inline-four engine was complemented by modifications to the transmission, brakes, wheels, and suspension. The focus was on the car as a whole, not just on engine performance.

According to the auction catalog, this vehicle is the 283rd in a series of 502 units. It was delivered new to Switzerland in August 1990. The Blue Black Metallic exterior is complemented by an anthracite leather interior.

Despite its sporty focus, it was equipped with air conditioning, a power sunroof, and power-adjustable, heated front seats. Between 2021 and 2023, it underwent a restoration that included the body and mechanical components.

It is precisely the combination of a practical sedan with striking aerodynamics that makes the Evolution II so appealing. Its appearance may be a matter of opinion, but one thing is certain: among standard Mercedes models of this generation, it is impossible to overlook.
