The Mercedes Benz 600 (W100) is a range of luxury cars produced in West Germany (Stuttgart) between 1963 and 1981. They were sold as a 4-door saloon and limousine and a 6-door saloon with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. It is the predecessor to the Maybach and replaced the 300d as the company’s flagship model.
When it was launched in 1963, it was the most expensive car in the world. It was rivalled by the likes of Rolls-Royce, Lincoln-Continental and Cadillac. They were powered by a 6.3-litre, water-cooled, 247 hp (184 kW) V8 engine, mated to a 4-speed aic transmission. In total, more than 2,600 examples were produced.
