The Porsche 924 is a sports car produced in Germany (Stuttgart) between 1976 and 1988 as a replacement for the 912E and 914. It was sold as a 2-door 2+2 coupe with rear-wheel drive and a front-middle mounted engine. It was the first production road-going Porsche with this layout to use water cooling, and the first Porsche offered with a conventional fully automatic transmission.
The car was powered by a 2-litre or 2.5-litre I4 engine, with the 2-litre also available in a turbocharged version. The engines were mated to a 3-speed automatic or 4/5-speed manual transmission. In total, more than 150,000 examples were produced.
