The Volkswagen Beetle is a small family car produced by the German company in between 1938 and 2003. It was sold as a 2-door sedan and convertible with rear-wheel drive and engine located in the front. It is one of the most iconic cars in automotive history, known for its distinctive shape. In total, more than 21.5 million examples were produced.

The car was sold with five flat, 4-cylinder engines with displacements ranging from 1.1 to 1.6 liters depending on the year of manufacture. The engines were mated to a 4-speed manual, aic or 3-speed semi-aic transmission. The power output of the engines ranged from 24 hp (18 kW) to about 50 hp (37 kW). It was replaced by the Golf model.
