It was launched in April 1978 at the Turin Motor Show. The name Ritmo comes from the Italian word for “rhythm” and Strada from the Italian word for “road”. The car was available with several petrol and diesel engines during its production, ranging in displacement from 1 to 2 litres. The engines were mated to a 4/5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. In total, just under 1.8 million examples were produced.
