Porsche 356 A

The Porsche 356 is a sports car produced in Austria (Gmünd) and later Germany (Zuffenhausen) between 1948 and 1965 as the company’s first production model. It was sold as a 2-door coupe, convertible androadster withrear-wheel drive andrear-mounted engine. The 356 is a lightweight andagile car that was popular inmotorsport thanks to innovations even during the production period. In total, just over 75,000 examples were produced in several generations.

The 356 A version was introduced in 1955 with many small but significant changes from the “pre-A” version and was produced until 1959. Among enthusiasts it was referred to as the T1. In1957 a revision of the Aknown as the T2 was launched. The car was available with several engines, but the most common was a 1.6-liter, air-cooled, flat-four cylinder engine producing 59 hp (44 kW), mated to a 4-speed manual transmission.
