The Maserati Biturbo is a range of luxury grand tourers produced in Italy (Modena, Rho) between 1981 and 1994. They were sold as 2+2 and2+3 2-door coupes, 4-door sedans and2-door convertibles withrear-wheel drive anda front-mounted engine. The original Biturbo was a 2-door, 4-seat coupe, powered by a 2-liter V6 engine withtwin turbochargers. All Maserati models launched between 1981 and 1997 were based on variants of the original Biturbo architecture, including later models such as the Shamal and Ghibli II.

In 1988, after the models underwent a facelift, the Biturbo name was replaced by 222 (2-door, 2-litre engine, 2nd generation). This version was presented to the public at theTurin Motor Show. The engine capacity of the export model was increased from 2.5 to 2.8 litres and was fitted with a full leather interior.
