The Jaguar C-Type (officially called the XK120-C) is a racing sports car produced between 1951 and 1953. The letter C in the name stands for “competition”. The car combined the chassis of the contemporary, road-proven XK120 with a lightweight tubular frame and an aerodynamic aluminium body.
It was powered by a 3.5-litre I6 engine, initially rated at 205 hp (153 kW). From mid-1953 it was more powerful and used Weber triple carburettors. The cars were also lighter and their braking performance was improved by the use of disc brakes on all four wheels. Only 53 examples were produced in total, of which 43 were sold to private owners.
