The MG T-Type is a series of sports cars produced in England (Abingdon) between 1936 and 1955. They were sold as a 2-door roadster with a body-on-frame, rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. This series, also known as the Midget, included the TA, TB, TC, TD and TF models. The design was very modern at the start of production but over time, without much change, it became obsolete and the series was replaced by the MGA.
The TD was announced in January 1950 and was produced until 1953. Enthusiasts at the time saw it as a disappointment, not as a sports car, but rather as a model designed to consolidate and expand sales in North America. The car was powered by a 1.25-liter I4 engine with 57 horsepower (43 kW). Less than 30,000 examples were produced in total.
