The Citroën SM is a high-performance grand tourer produced in France between 1970 and 1975. It was sold as a 3-door hatchback coupe with rear-wheel drive and a front-middle-mounted engine. The car placed third in the 1971 European Car of the Year competition, just behind its sibling, the GS. In 1972, it won the Motor Trend Car of the Year award in the USA.

The car was powered by a 2.7-litre or 3-litre V6 engine. The 2.7-litre version had a power output of 168 hp (125 kW) and the 3-litre version had a power output of 178 hp (132 kW). The engines were mated to a 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. In total, just under 13,000 examples were produced.
