The Maserati Bora is a sporty grand tourer produced in Italy (Modena) between 1971 and 1978. It was sold as a 2-door coupe with rear-wheel drive and the engine located in the rear center. Like other Maserati cars of the time, it is named after the wind (the Bora is the wind of Trieste). It is the company’s first mid-engined road car, and the first Maserati overall with independent four-wheel suspension. This technological advancement ended the company’s reputation as a maker of fast but technologically outdated cars.

The car was available in two versions, a 4.7-litre produced between 1971 and 1978 and a 4.9-litre produced between 1973 and 1978. Both versions were powered by a V8 engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Engine outputs ranged from 280 hp (209 kW) to 325 hp (243 kW) depending on the version. A total of 564 examples were produced.
