The Bentley S1 is a full-size luxury car produced in England (Crewe) between 1955 and 1959. It was sold as a 4-door saloon and 2-door coupe with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. It was derived from a modification of Rolls-Royce’s production Silver Cloud model. A total of 3,538 examples were produced.
The car was announced at the end of April 1955. Compared to the R Type, it had a completely new design, a larger boot, softer suspension, lighter steering and better brakes. It was powered by a 4.9-litre I6 engine, mated to a 4-speed aic transmission. This allowed it to accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h in 13.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 166 km/h.
