The Opel Manta is a sports car produced in Germany between 1970 and 1988 in two generations. It was sold primarily as a rear-wheel drive coupe. It was based on the family car Ascona and was intended to compete with cars such as the Ford Capri.

The Opel Manta A was launched in September 1970 and was produced until 1975. It was sold as a 2-door coupe with distinctive round taillights. The car was powered by a 1.2/1.6/1.9-litre I4 engine, mated to a 4-speed manual or 3-speed aic transmission. The engines output ranged between 66 hp (44 kW) and 105 hp (77 kW), depending on displacement and year of production. In total, just under 500,000 examples of the Manta A were produced.
