The BMW 507 is a grand tourer produced in Germany between 1956 and 1959. It was sold as a 2-door convertible with rear-wheel drive and engine located in the front. It was originally intended to be exported to the United States in thousands per year, but due to its price only 252 examples were produced, causing a large financial loss for BMW.
The body of the 507 was almost entirely handmade from aluminium and no two cars were exactly alike. The car was powered by a 3.2-litre aluminium alloy V8 engine with 147 hp (110 kW), mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. This allowed it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 11.1 s to reach a speed of 196 km/h (196 mph).
