The Maserati Biturbo is a series of high-performance grand tourers produced in Italy from 1981 to 1994. They were sold as 2-door coupes, 4-door sedans and 2-door convertibles with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. The original Biturbo was a 2-door, 4-seat coupe with a luxury interior, powered by a 2-liter V6 engine with twin turbochargers. All subsequent models were based on the original version.

After the models underwent a facelift in 1988, the Biturbo name was dropped in favor of the 222 (2-door, 2-liter, 2-generation engine). The 222 was introduced in 1988 at the Turin Motor Show. Export models were powered by a 2.8-liter engine and had a full leather interior.
