The Buick Electra was a full-size luxury automobile produced from 1959-1990 and through six generations. Introduced as a replacement for the Roadmaster, the Electra served as Buick’s flagship sedan line throughout its production run and was offered as a four-door six-passenger sedan, a two-door sedan, a two-door convertible, and a five-door station wagon. The Electra was initially rear-wheel drive and underwent a significant downsizing in 1977. The sixth generation, introduced in 1985, underwent another significant downsizing and had front-wheel drive. In late 2022, Buick announced plans to revive the Electra for its upcoming 2024 electric models.
