The Triumph GT6 is a sports car based on the Spitfire convertible, produced in England in 1966-1973 (3 generations). It was sold as a 2-door fastback coupe with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. The car is an indirect continuation of the 1963 Triumph Spitfire GT4 prototype . In total, more than 40,000 examples were produced.
The second generation GT6 was produced from 1968 to 1970 (available in North America as the GT6+). Compared to the previous generation, the rear suspension was significantly revised. Due to new regulations, the front bumper had to be raised, which saw the design of the front grille change. The car was powered by a 2-litre I6 engine with 104 hp (78 kW), which was mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. This allowed it to reach a speed of 172 km/h (172 mph) and accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h (97 mph) in 10 seconds. In total, just over 12,000 examples of the second-generation GT6 were produced.
