The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is a 2-seater sports car produced in Germany in 1954-1957 as a coupe with wings and in 1957-1963 as a roadster. It was based on the W194 racing car from in 1952. It has rear-wheel drive and engine located in the front. It is also equipped with a mechanical direct fuel injection system.
The car is powered by a water-cooled, 3-litre inline 6-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 240 hp (179 kW), which is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. The 300 SL was able to reach a top speed of 263 km/h, making it the fastest production car of its time. In total, only 3,258 examples were produced.
