The Maserati 3500 GT (Tipo 101) is a two-door grand tourer produced in Italy in between 1957 and 1964. It was sold as a 4-seat coupe and 2-seat spyder with the engine located in front and rear-wheel drive. It was a key car for Maserati as it represented the company’s first successful attempt at the Gran Turismo market and mass production. A total of 2226 examples were produced.
The 3500 GT was built on a chassis with a tubular platform. It was powered by a 12-valve, 3.5-litre, inline 6-cylinder engine, made of aluminium derived from the Maserati 350S. The engine had a power output of 217 hp (162 kW) or 232 hp (173 kW) in depending on the modification. The engine was initially mated to a 4-speed manual, later to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
