The Volvo P1800 is a 2+2 front-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports car produced between 1961 and 1973. It was sold as a 2-door coupe and 3-door shooting brake. The design was created by Pelle Petterson and the mechanics were derived from the Volvo Amazon range. The P1800 was marketed as a road car rather than a sports car. In 1998, the 1800S owned by Irv Gordon was certified as the highest mileage private vehicle with over 5.23 milion. km.
The Volvo P1800ES was the last variant of the P1800, which was introduced in 1972 as a 2-door Shooting Brake with frameless all-glass tailgate. The car was powered by a 2-litre I4 engine with 125 hp (93 kW), which was mated to a 4-speed manual or 3-speed aic transmission. In total, only 8077 ES Exemplars were produced.
