The Audi 100 was a mid-size car produced in the years 1968-1997 in four generations (C1-C4). The 2-door version was available in the first 2 generations and the 5-door version in the last 3 generations. In 1982, the third generation Audi 100 achieved a remarkably low air resistance coefficient. The C2 and C3 Audi 100 models were sold in North America as the Audi 5000 and in South Africa as the Audi 500. In 1993, the models were slightly restyled and renamed the Audi A6 series.
The Audi 100 C1 was produced in the years 1968-1976. Its name originally referred to its 100 horsepower (74 kW) output, and the was the company’s largest car since the brand’s revival. It was sold as a 2-door coupe and 2-/4-door sedan. The four-cylinder 1.8-litre I4 was originally available in 100 (80 hp, 59 kW), 100 S (90 hp, 66 kW) and 100 LS (100 hp, 74 kW) versions. The coupe was powered by a 1.9-litre 115 hp (85 kW) engine. The engine was mated to a 4-speed manual transmission with option of aic.
