The Peugeot 504 is a mid-size family car produced in France between 1968 and 1983, in some countries until 2006 (Nigeria). It was sold as a 4-door saloon, 5-door estate, 2-door coupe, 2-door convertible and 2- or 4-door pickup with rear-wheel drive and front-mounted engine. It was introduced to the public at the Paris Motor Show in 1968 and the following year in 1969 won the European Car of the Year award.
The car had a sturdy body with high ground clearance and large wheels. It was very popular in remote countries with rough terrain such as Latin America and large parts of Africa. During its years of production, it was available with diesel and petrol I4 and V6 engines, which were mated to 4 or 5-speed manual and 3-speed aic transmissions. More than 3 million examples of the 504 were produced in Europe.
