The Rover 2000 was produced in between 1963 and 1973. It was powered by a 2-litre I4 engine with 104 hp (78 kW). In 1966, the 2000 TC was introduced, which had a more powerful engine (110 hp, 82 kW), a larger starter motor and tachometer as standard. It was originally intended for overseas sales only due to the lack of sufficient intake manifolds, this was eventually resolved and was made available to the UK as well. In total, over 208,000 examples of the 2000 were produced.
