The Porsche 912 is a sports car produced in between 1965 and 1969 in Germany. It was sold as a 4-seater, 2-door coupe and targa with rear-wheel drive and a rear-mounted engine. As Porsche planned to discontinue the 356 and the newly introduced, more powerful 911 would remain as the company’s only product, they decided, due to the price increase of the 911, to develop the 912.

The car was powered by an air-cooled 1.6-litre flat-four cylinder engine, used in the last variant of the 356, with a power output of 102 hp (76 kW). Nimble handling, low air resistance and light weight enabled the 912 to achieve fuel consumption of 7.8 l/100 km (7.8 US mpg). In total, more than 32,000 examples were produced, of which several special versions were made for the German and Dutch police.
