The Pontiac GTO is a 2-door 4/5-seater automobile produced in five generations between 1963-1974 and 2003-2006. It had rear-wheel drive and engine located in the front. The first generation GTO is credited with popularising the so-called “muscle car” segment.
The Pontiac GTO (1st Gen) was available as a coupe, convertible and hardtop and was produced from 1964 to 1967. It was powered by a 6.4-liter V8 engine with 325 horsepower (242 kW) or a 6.6-liter V8 engine with 348 horsepower (260 kW). The engines were mated to a 3/4-speed manual or 2/3-speed automatic transmission. The first generation could reach speeds of around 180 km/h. In total, more than 250,000 examples were produced.
