The Triumph Spitfire was a sports car produced between 1962 and 1980 in five generations. It was unveiled at the London Motor Show. Roughly 315,000 units were produced over its 18 years of production and it was sold as a 2-door convertible or roadster. He was popular in street racing and rallying and won several SCCA National Sports Car Championships. The model was named after the famous World War II Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft.
The Triumph Spitfire 1500 was produced from 1974-1980 and a total of 95,829 units were sold. It was powered by a 1.5-litre I4 engine with 53 hp (40 kW) for America and 71 hp (52 kW) for the UK (the most powerful variant). The UK variant was able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 13.5 seconds and reach a speed of 160 km/h.
