The Alvis 12/70 was produced in the years 1937-1940. It was sold as a sports sedan or a 4-seater coupe with a folding head. A total of 741 examples were produced. The entire rear panel of the car was folded down and on the inside carried the spare wheel.
The car was powered by a 1.85-litre I4 engine with 63 hp (47 kW), which was enough to take the car to a top speed of 130 km/h (130 mph). The engine was mated to a 4-speed gearbox, which had synchronisation on the top three speeds.
