The Shelby Mustang is a high-performance variant of the Ford Mustang produced by Shelby American in 1965-1967 and Ford Motor Company in 1968-1970. In 2005, Ford revived the Shelby for the high-performance fifth-generation Ford Mustang.
The 1965-1966 cars were the smallest and lightest of the GT 350 models. All cars from 1965-1966 had a 4.7-litre V8 engine with 306 hp (228 kW). The 1965 models were only available with the 4-speed manual transmission. The 1966 GT 350 was more comfortable for casual drivers, including rear seats , optional colors and optional aic transmission. Over the years, cars have gotten bigger, heavier and more comfortable, and in the process they have lost much of their competitiveness. A total of 562 examples of the GT 350 were produced from the 1965 model year.
