The Cadillac DeVille was produced in eight generations in 1958-2005. The name was originally used to refer to the trim level of the 1949 Cadillac Series 62 . It was replaced by the Cadillac DTS. In 1959-1984 it had rear-wheel drive and the engine placed in the front, from 1985 it had front-wheel drive, the engine remained placed in the front.
The 3rd generation Cadillac DeVille was produced from 1965-1970. It was sold as a 4/2-door hardtop, a 4-door sedan, and a 2-door convertible. Until 1967 it was powered by a 7-litre engine with output of 340 hp (253 kW), later by a 7.7-litre engine with output of 375 hp (280 kW), which was mated to a 3-speed aic transmission.
