The first generation arrived on the production lines in 1966 and was produced until 1970. It was built on the GM E platform like the Buick Riviera. The GT version differed from the base model by incorporating a special performance camshaft and “GT” gearbox calibrated for fast and firm upshifts, a cold air intake system and dual exhaust ports. Power steering and power front disc brakes, power driver’s seat and AM/FM radio were also available on this trim. This model features a 455 cu in (7.5l) V8 engine rated at 385hp (287kW). The engine was connected to a three-speed aic transmission.
