One luxury car that was introduced in 1965. It brought with it the engine from the previous Silver Cloud, a 6.2-litre OHV V8 with 172bhp mated to a Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 aic gearbox (later models had a more powerful 6.75-litre engine). The Silver Shadow was 9 cm narrower and 18 cm shorter than its predecessor, but still managed to offer more space and comfort for passengers. Other innovations included independent rear suspension and disc brakes.
