The Jaguar XJ is a series of mid-size and full-size luxury cars with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine, produced from 1968 to 2019. The cars were produced in four basic generations with different variants of each generation. Since 1970, this model has been the company’s flagship model.
The second series of the XJ was produced from 1973 to 1979 and sold as a 4-door sedan. The cars were visually distinguished from the first series by raised front bumpers (due to safety regulations), a smaller grille. In the interior, the heating and air-conditioning systems were simplified in response to criticism of the first series. The car was available with a 2.8/3.4/4.2-litre version of the I6 engine and a 5.3-litre V12 engine. The engines were mated to a 3-speed aic or 4-speed manual transmission. In total, more than 90,000 examples of the second series were produced.
