The Porsche 962 was a prototype racing car, built as a replacement for the 956. Introduced in late 1984, it had a long-lasting career, with some models still competitive well into the mid-90s. It was later replaced by the Porsche WSC-95.
The prototype was powered by a flat 2.8-litre 6-cylinder engine. The later model was powered by a 3.2-litre engine, making it more competitive with the Jaguar. The model was available with 5-speed manual or dual-clutch semi-aic transmission. In total, Porsche produced 91 units between 1984 and 1991. 16 were officially used by the factory team, while 75 were sold to customers.
