The Chevrolet Corvette C1 is the first generation of the Corvette sports car, which was produced in 1953-1962. This generation is commonly referred to as the “fixed axle” generation, as independent rear suspension did not appear until 1963. The car was sold as a 2-door convertible/roadster. It had a rear drive and engine located in the front.

Initially, the cars were powered by a 3.9-litre I6 engine with 150 hp (112 kW), which was mated to a 2-speed aic transmission. Later, a 4.3-litre, 4.6-litre and 5.4-litre V8 engine variant was also available. The power output of these engines ranged from 195 hp (145 kW) to 360 hp (270 kW). The cars were available with 2-speed aic and 3/4-speed manual transmissions, depending on year of production.
