The Citroën Traction Avant is the world’s first mass-produced car with a monocoque body and front-wheel drive. It was produced in between 1934 and 1957. It was sold as a 2/4-door sedan, 2-door convertible and 5-door hatchback.
The car had rear-wheel drive and the engine mounted in the front centre. Four I4 engines were available, ranging from a 1.3-litre to a 1.9-litre and a 2.9-litre I6, which were mated to a 3-speed manual gearbox. The 2.9-litre version was able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 22 seconds and to 130 km/h. The average consumption of this version was 15.2 L/100 km. Approximately 760 ,000 copies were produced.
