The Ford Cortina is a mid-sized family car produced in Europe from 1962-1982 and the best-selling car in the United Kingdom in the 1970s. It was produced in five generations, although the last was only a facelift of the Mk IV.

Ford Cortina MK III. was produced in between 1970-1976. It was sold as a 2-/4-door saloon, 5-door estate and 2-door utility coupe. The car had the internal name TC1, which stands for Taunus-Cortina. Mk III. replaced the Mk II. and larger, more expensive Ford Corsair, offered more trim levels and the option of larger engines than the Mk II. Cortina. There was also a choice of a 4-speed or 3-speed aic transmission.
