The BMW M1, or also called the E26 was a sports car produced in the years 1978-1981. It was sold as a 2-door coupe and only 453 examples were produced in total. It had a rear drive and engine located in the middle. The BMW M1 was BMW’s only mass-produced car that had the engine placed in the middle and was very modern for the time. It was powered by a 3.5-litre I6 petrol engine with 273 hp (204 kW), which was mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The car was able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 s and to reach a speed of 261 km/h.
