This two-door coupe was produced in five generations in 1959-60 and 1964-1987. Unlike a standard pickup truck, the El Camino was adapted from the standard Chevrolet two-door station wagon platform, and a cab and cargo bed were integrated into the body.
The third-generation 1970 Chevrolet El Camino could be powered by one of seven engines, ranging from a 3.8-liter I6 to a 7.5-liter V8 with 450 horsepower (336kW). Design-wise, it was a bit edgier than the other third-generation models. A total of 47 707 units were produced. The El Camino was rear-wheel drive, had a 3/4-speed manual or 2/3-speed aic transmission, and could cover the ¼ mile in 13.4 seconds and reach speeds of 171 mph.
