The Lincoln Capri is a luxury automobile produced by the Lincoln Division of the Ford Motor Company from 1952 to 1959 in three generations. The car’s name is derived from the name of an Italian island in the Gulf of Naples. The Capri was sold as a premium variant of the 2-door Lincoln Cosmopolitan before it was introduced as a separate model line.
The first generation Capri was sold from 1952 to 1955 as a 4-door sedan, 2-door coupe and convertible with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. The car was available with 5.2-liter and 5.6-liter V8 engines, which were mated to a 3-speed or 4-speed manual transmission.
