The Lamborghini Espada is a large grand tourer produced in Italy in three series between 1968 and 1978. It was sold as a 2-door, 4-seater coupe with rear-wheel drive and front-mounted engine. It was designed by Marcello Gandini, who was inspired by two of his previous show cars (the Lamborghini Marzal and the Bertone Pirana). Together with the Islero, which was a more conservative version of the Espada, they replaced the 400 GT 2+2. A total of 1,217 examples were produced.

The second series was introduced in 1970 at the Brussels Motor Show and was produced in 1970 – 1972. The car received a completely new dashboard, centre console and steering wheel. It was powered by a 3.9-litre V12 engine with 350 hp (261 kW), which was mated to a 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. A total of 575 examples of the Series 2 were produced.
