The Ford Capri is a mid-size car produced in from 1968 to 1986. It was sold as a fastback coupe with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. It used mechanical components from the second-generation Ford Cortina and was intended to be the European equivalent of the Ford Mustang. A wide range of engines were used throughout the production period. In total, more than 1.9 million examples were sold, and the was unofficially replaced by the Probe.

The second generation Capri was produced from 1974-1978 and sold as a hatchback coupe. The car was designed more for daily driving due to the oil crisis, had a larger cabin and shorter bonnet. The Capri was available with several engines, ranging from a 1.3-liter I4 to a 3-liter V6, which were mated to a 4-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission.
