The Fiat 1500 was produced in between 1935 and 1950. It was sold as a 4-door saloon and 2-door convertible with rear-wheel drive and the engine located in the front. It was one of the first cars tested in the wind tunnel, following the Chrysler Airflow produced a year earlier. Its body style achieved aerodynamic efficiency that was unmatched and also disproved the claim that aerodynamic cars would not sell. In all, around 46,000 examples were produced.
The Fiat 1500 E was introduced in 1949 along with the 1100 E as the last version of the 1500. The most significant modification over the previous version was the redesign of the rear doors and the ability to access the boot from the outside of the car. In total, about 1,700 examples of the 1500 E were produced.
