The Maserati Biturbo is a series of high-performance grand tourers produced in Italy from 1981 to 1994. They were available as a 4/5-seat 2-door coupe, a 4-door sedan, and a 2-door convertible with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. The original Biturbo was a 2-door, with two turbochargers and a luxurious interior. The cars were sold with 2/2.5/2.8-liter V6 engines mated to 5-speed manual or ¾-speed automatic transmissions.
The Maserati 222 was introduced in 1988 in Turin, when the models underwent a facelift and the Biturbo name was dropped. The 222 name represents two doors, a 2-litre engine and the second generation. Export models were sold with a 2.8-litre engine and full leather interior.
