The Porsche 944 is a mid-level sports car produced between 1982 and 1991. It was based on the 924 platform with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. It was sold as a 2-door coupe and convertible with atmospheric or turbocharged engines. In 1992, the car was renamed the 968 due to extensive design modifications.

In total, more than 163 ,000 units were sold, making it the most successful sports car in Porsche’s history until the introduction of the Boxter and 997 Carrera. The standard version of the 944 was initially available with a 2.5-liter I4 engine with 160 horsepower (120 kW). Later with 2.7-litre I4 engine with 163 hp (121 kW).
