This model was updated in 1941 in preparation for the Second World War. The 1941 design was also used in the discontinued 1942 model year and later in 1946-1948. Frequent changes in the placement of some components, such as the three different positions of the cooling fan, caused confusion for mechanics. It is believed to have been the first Ford to offer a replaceable oil filter as an option

This model had a high-level radio, but it managed to drain the battery in about two hours. It also had good brakes and the was one of the best handling conventional cars of the time. It was powered by a 3.6-litre V8 engine with 90 hp (67 kW). It had a 3-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.
