The De Tomaso Pantera is a mid-engined sports car produced in Italy in between 1971 and 1992. Italian for “Panther,” the Pantera was the automaker’s most popular model, with more than 7,000 units produced during its twenty-year production run.
It was introduced at the New York Auto Show in New York in 1970. It was sold as a 2-door coupe and targa. The car was powered by a 4.9-liter or 5.8-liter V8 with power output that ranged from 246 horsepower (197 kW) to 500 horsepower (373 kW). The engine was mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox that drove the rear axle.
