The Rolls-Royce Corniche was a 2-door luxury car with front-engine and rear-wheel drive produced as a coupe with hardtop (1971-1980) and convertible (1971-1995). A Bentley version of the Corniche was also produced. Between 1984 and 1995 it became known as the Bentley Continental. The Corniche gets its name from the experimental Corniche prototype from year 1939. A total of 6,823 units were produced, of which 561 were the Bentley variant.
The Rolls-Royce Corniche I was produced from 1971-1987. It was powered by a 6.75-litre V8 engine with 237 hp (177 kW), which was mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission and could reach speeds of 190 km/h (190 mph). Corniche was popular among high-income celebrities such as James May.
