It was the new successor to the Silhouette, against which performance was increased and handling improved. The Jalpa was equipped with a 3.5 litre (210 cu in) V8 engine with twin overhead camshafts. The power this engine was able to produce was 255 hp (190kW). The Jalpa was able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds. Performance was comparable to a Ferrari 328.
