Second generation produced for the 1971-1973 model years. Sharing much of its bodywork with the Ford Mustang, it began to move away from “pony cars” and took on aspects of both sports and luxury cars. This car is powered by a smooth Ford 351 ci V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission. Includes power steering, power disc brakes and air conditioning. With 2,972,784 examples produced, the Cougar is Mercury’s best-selling model.
